Dinosaur Jr. vocalist/guitarist J Mascis at one point described the group's music as "ear-bleeding country." The band formed in 1984 after the dissolution of Mascis' band Deep Wound, which also featured bassist Lou Barlow. Dinosaur Jr. disbanded in 1997, but came back together in 2005.
