Summer is Coming...

February has been flying by, spring is almost here, and summer is right around the corner.

And that means it's time for us to unveil the performers for the Toyota Summer Concert Series at the 2024 San Diego County Fair!

We are thrilled to announce this grandstand concert lineup, which will feature a diverse array of comedy legends, hip-hop and R&B icons, Latin favorites, Country and Southern Rock stars, and a top reggae group. This includes GRAMMY® winners Little Big Town, TLC, and Old Dominion; late-night kings Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson, and Arsenio Hall; and, hot off his Super Bowl halftime show appearance, Ludacris.

Tickets will go on sale to the public online at sdfair.com at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8. But if you are interested in attending, you can grab the best seats in the house by purchasing our pre-sale tickets, which are available from 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6 through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 7. Use the promo code GROOVY2024 for access.

Tickets to the Toyota Summer Concert Series include same-day admission to the San Diego County Fair, the largest community celebration in the region. The Fair this year will run June 12-July 7 with closures on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Here is the current grandstand lineup and the dates:

Plant*Grow*Eat

More great news: The 22nd District Agricultural Association’s fun, free, and educational Plant*Grow*Eat program is now accepting applications online from schools that wish to participate.

Plant*Grow*Eat provides an amazing opportunity for educators and brings agriculture alive for San Diego County’s children. Over the past 30 years, more than 250,000 students, thousands of teachers, and volunteer judges have participated in Plant*Grow*Eat. We are proud and excited to continue this community tradition this year as we prepare for the 2024 San Diego County Fair.

The goal of the award-winning Plant*Grow*Eat program — in line with the District’s mission — is to educate school-aged children in San Diego County about agriculture and to demonstrate where their food comes from by providing a hands-on learning experience. Last year, the program included 5,717 participating students.

In the past, Plant*Grow*Eat ended with a trip to the San Diego County Fair. This year, however, the Fair will begin June 12 — after summer break begins for schools. To assist, the Pre-K through 6th Grade classes will visit The Farm at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in May. During students’ visits, a series of agricultural learning stations will introduce them to agriculture — both plants and farm animals. At the end of the tour, each student will receive seeds and planting supplies to plant, grow, harvest — and of course eat — at home.

Each student will also receive a free admission ticket to attend the San Diego County Fair.

This program is one of the major ways we work to give back to our community and to make the Fair more accessible for everyone. Teachers of Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade classes throughout San Diego County can register their class to participate in this program at no cost. And for kids at Title One Schools who need transportation to experience the Plant*Grow*Eat program, the Don Diego Scholarship Foundation is underwriting the costs of busing.

We are excited to again move forward with this incredible program and to continue to provide exciting, educational, safe, and entertaining experiences for our San Diego County community.

More updates soon. Have a great weekend, and don't forget to check out our calendar of upcoming events at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Cheers,

Carlene Moore
